Although India consumes lots of fenugreek, the largest importers are the United Emirates, Yemen, Japan, South Africa, UK, and the US. So, what do people do with fenugreek?
Fenugreek is a herb, a spice, and a vegetable. It’s a critical ingredient in Indian curries, and it’s commonly added to pickled veggies. Fenugreek sprouts are popular microgreens in salads, and small bundles of the herbs and their roots are common in Indian bazaars.
The seeds, the leaves, the roots, and the leaves, for fenugreek, everything is used and traded. Although not the most common herb in the West, fenugreek’s reputation is global.
The Science Behind Fenugreek

Tratamiento Capilar Fenogreco y Shikakai 🖤
Para realizar este tratamiento comenzamos la noche anterior ya que debemos hidratar una cucharadita de fenogreco en polvo en 50ml de agua caliente, puedes ir agregando poco a poco el agua e ir mezclando o puedes licuarlo todo y listo. Cubrimos y dejamos reposar toda la noche, como mínimo unas ocho horas.
En la mañana tome dos cucharadas de shikaki en polvo, las puse en un bowl y fui agregando agua caliente poco a poco y mezcle para deshacer grumos, agregue suficiente agua hasta obtener una textura espesa y cremosa. Cubrimos y dejamos hidratar por 15-20 minutos. Opcional: puedes batir el shikakai para montarlo y queda tipo mousse, super espumoso.
Mientras agregamos 50ml de agua caliente al fenogreco y licuamos de nuevo muy bien, la proporción que usé da como resultado un gel bastante líquido pero si prefieres un gel más denso puedes usar más fenogreco en polvo la noche anterior. Ahora sólo debemos agregar el fenogreco al shikakai y mezclar muy bien, yo lo puse en una botella con aplicador, se ve en la segunda foto.
Para su aplicación yo comencé por lavar el cabello con champú ya que estaba muy sucio y lleno de productos de styling, si no es tu caso esta mezcla podría sustituir tu champú pero depende de tu rutina. Retiro el exceso de agua con una toalla y aplico el tratamiento en la raíz con un suave masaje y lo que queda de medios a puntas, cubro con un gorro y dejo actuar por 10-15 minutos. Pasado el tiempo enjuagó con abundante agua y sigo con el resto de mi rutina.
Esta mezcla es increíble la uso desde hace tiempo y siento que me ayuda a limpiar muy bien el cuero cabelludo mientras deja la melena suave y brillante. El fenogreco ayuda con la caída del cabello y estimula el crecimiento mientras el shikakai limpia, purifica y exfolia el cuero cabelludo.
Usarlos juntos me gusta porque se complementan, el shikakai se puede usar solo sin problemas pero la textura que le da el fenogreco no solo facilita la aplicación sino que también es más fácil de enjuagar.

Fenugreek makes soups taste delicious! I discovered it when I wanted to make a curry and started experimenting with Fenugreek and Cardamom. When I made bean soups with these seeds, it would smell and taste heavenly.
I didn’t know you could actually sprout them as I sprout beans and lentils in my kitchen on a weekly basis. I knew that fenugreek has plenty of iron, but not that they increase lactation in women.

Wow, I have never seen this before even though my mum.was a big fanatic of spices. I did not usually go in to the kitchen with her very often. Away from the whole talk about my mum and spices, I feel like this fenugreek herb is really nice and it has so much benefits to human health too. I’ll check the local food store around here to see if I can get this herb.
